The Ann Arbor Lindy Exchange
July 18-20, 2008 Dancing in the Deuce!
Some of the beautiful venues you will be dancing at:
The Michigan League Ballroom (Friday night)
The Michigan League was originally built in 1921 as a center for women's social, cultural, and recreational activities on campus at the University of Michigan. But as societal and economic changes eliminated many traditional League activities, it became a place to hold seminars, conferences, receptions, and Lindy exchanges. It became one of the three University Unions in 1992.
The Ballroom has a dramatic domed ceiling and a spectacular wood dance floor with a capacity of 500. It has been the site of dances for numerous swing dances and Lindy exchanges in the past and is a favorite of dancers on campus.
The Michigan Union Ballroom (Saturday night)
The Michigan Union is the largest, and the primary, Union on the University of Michigan campus. This beautiful historic building contains dining establishments, meeting rooms, music practice rooms, a pool hall, and several banquet rooms.
The Ballroom is the largest and most glamorous of those rooms. With a capacity of 600, the grandeur of the room is enhanced by picturesque windows, beautiful brick work, and an unmatchable wood dance floor. Ann Arbor swing dancers consider it a rare treat when they have the opportunity to dance in the Michigan Union Ballroom. It is also next to the pool hall, for fun dance breaks!
