Around Ann Arbor
Welcome to Ann Arbor! We're proud of our home, and hope you get the chance to see some of it while you're here. Ya know, when you're not dancing...
Yeah, right.
Established in 1960, the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair is the Original of the now four award winning art fairs attracting over 500,000 attendees from across the nation and was named the Number One art fair in the country by AmericanStyle magazine readers survey (October 2004).
The 48th annual event is set among the University of Michigan's most elegant architecture and beautifully landscaped pedestrian walkways, including the landmark, Burton Carillon Tower.
The Arb is one of Univerisy of Michigan's most beautiful spots, the Nichols Arboretum is home to some of the most picturesque views in Ann Arbor, along with visual and performing arts exhibitions - such as Shakespeare in the Arb, strolling Shakespeare productions set in various locations throughout the Arb.
Originally established in 1907, the Arb is favorite spot for joggers, nature-lovers, artists, conservationists, and others. If you've got the time, spend a few leisurely hours strolling through the Arb.
The Diag
The Diag is nothing more than a large, wide-open space in the middle of University of Michigan's Central Campus. Yet it is still one of the busiest spots on campus.
The Diag plays host to concerts, programs, fundraisers, and relaxation. The verdant lawns of the Diag are often covered with picnicers, sunbathers, or people studying. It is also home to Ann Arbor's monthly outdoor swing dancing event - Lindy in the Diag.
Please visit the Ann Arbor Area Convention and Visitor's Bureau for more local information about what's happening in Ann Arbor. If you look at the pics scrolling on the top of the web site, you might just see a swing dancer from Columbus, OH dancing solo charleston to some boogie woogie piano at the Art Fair in 2005...
